Athlete agents in Pennsylvania are required by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission to obtain a bond worth $20,000. The bond acts as a guarantee that the agent performs their duties as outlined by the state athletic commission. The cost of the bond ranges from 1% to 5% of the total bond amount. Applicants with good credit may be able to pay as little as 1% of the total bond amount, or $200. If an agent acts in an unethical manner, the athlete represented is entitled to financial compensation through the agent’s bond.
